Do you have a wireless interface card installed?

Are the drivers been installed?

Have you run the wireless setup wizard in Control Panel?

Is this a desktop or a laptop?

Its a laptop and I don't have a wireless card because it has wireless in it, I have previously connected to the internet on this laptop with wireless but now that I have installed xp pro it isn't allowing me to view the availiable wireless connections.the router is on I have run wireless setup wizard its asking me to provide a usb flash drive or print the settings to various devices, when I havnt had to do none of this in the past.it normally just shows view availiable wireless connections in network connections on the control panel

It appears you need to install the driver for the wireless interface. The wireless setup wizard its asking me to provide a USB flash drive because it cannot find the wireless interface. You should get the necessary drivers from the manufactures web sit.

That is assuming they are available. Did this laptop come originally with something other than XP on it, like Vista or Windows 7.

You download them then click on Install or Setup or whatever it is.

If you didn't install the wireless drivers, you probably didn't install the drivers for the chipset, video, sound, LAN, etc. XP may have loaded generic drivers for these devices, but you've got to consider that XP is 10 yrs old now. The drivers on the CD are outdated.

The drivers can be downloaded at the laptop manufacturer's website.
