Video card upgrade help needed!

Sony / Pcv-w30

Specs: Windows XP
Really old computer, I know. Windows XP system and I believe a PCI card is needed. However I'm reading something in prior posts about internal built in graphics and am worried that even an upgraded card won't allow my son to play his Sims 3 game. Help?! I am not at all tech savvy....just want to make one trip to get the right card, if possible.

It looks like your PC is one of those (bad ideas) all-in-one PCs. Those are not very upgradeable, and I doubt you can upgrade the video card. I don't know if it has any internal slots, but on the web it says only about PC Card expandability, and you can't get PC Card Video cards.

I would recommending buying a new PC. The other stats on your PC barely meet the minimum, and I've been running Sims 3 for a while and you will need more power in order to not be completely frustrated with it.

OK, that's what I feared. So.....any good recommendations on a basic PC, good value? I guess now might be the time to buy. Essentially, the kids use it for gaming, internet etc. so I don't need something sophisticated. I have a laptop and my husband has a laptop for our work.

One of these?

If so, I'm afraid you have absolutely no hope.

Yes indeed, one of those. We've gotten more than our money's worth on it I'd say. But the time has come to "upgrade" huh? Any suggestions on a good basic PC these days?

There are very few OEM desktop systems that come with graphics that are suitable for gaming. Your choices are either to buy a cheaper system then add a gaming card for $100+/-, or just buy a more expensive gaming system.
