user.dmp file says what program caused it -

Specs: Windows XP
my computer XP started grinding/spinning like the drive is trying to access something but can't.
In Dr. Watson I found a user.dmp file that said I had to find out what program caused the error.
I take it that is what is causing the drive to keep spinning. I did a restore to yesterday but it did not help. I also have a new hard drive. How can I find the program that Dr. Watson says may be causing an access violation?

Is this the new drive that's making the grinding noise? If the drive is making a grinding sound, that usually means an impending drive failure. Make sure you have a backup of all your data in case the drive dies.

You can check the Event Logs to see if there's indicative of the cause of any software/hardware failures,

Thanks! I did a system restore and some other things and the grinding has stopped. It might be a bad partition on this drive that we bought in January of this year or something that was put on it on the install. Will keep a watch on that.
