upgrading from xp to vista

Personally I'd say skip Vista and go for Windows 7 - if your hardware can run Vista it can run Win7.

Umm, yes, there's no such thing as a free upgrade in Windows, but you'll find Win7 is the same price as Vista.

I don't have any special reason to upgrade from xp to vista or 7,
I am pretty happy with xp-pro.
I was just wondering, that's why I asked.

Obviously you'd need to get a Windows 7 (or Vista) DVD for the installation, plus your system would have to meet the minimum requirements, meaning you should have a decent CPU, at least 2GB RAM, a video card that supports DX9 or better, & at least 20GB of disk space.
