My Aunt just asked me the age old question of whether she should uninstall the old version of McAfee VirusScan before installing the new one. I come to you all because forever I always have uninstalled first but am wondering if for any newer reason if software these days don't require a "clean" machine to install cleanly.

Thanks for any input.

never mind. I forgot that McAfee uninstalls prev. versions upon upgrade anyway. :)

It's probably too late, but I would recommend to dump McAfee completely (not Norton either). There are better more efficient (system resources wise) antivirus programs, many of them are free!

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

You can try Bitdefender for more security which includes all the features.(Paid one) instead of McAfee

Free version try AVira+Malwarebytes or Avast+Malwarebytes
