Specs: Windows XP,
when I try to download a PDF file the task bar at the bottom shows that the file is downloading. However, when it is finished the task bar says "Done" but the page is a total blank. I had adobe reader X and uninstalled it so I need a new one. I would like to open pdf files in my emails, word, excell etc.

I recommend PDF-xchange as an excellent free pdf reader.

Flash has nothing to do with PDF. You can still use adobe flash plugins in the browsers, and other independent .flv players, such as VLC, on the desktop.

If you don't want to use Adobe Reader then Foxit is a much lighter free alternative that works very nicely.

Please come back and let us know how you got on.

I just installed the free version of PDF Xchange viewer 2.5 build 195.0 with pdf tablet. When I go to open a pdf file in my email, it will not open it, it only asks for me to save it. When I click on the pdf tablet icon, it states the application failed to initialze properly (oxcoooo135) whatever that means. Can someone please help me on this because it is getting frustrating as I need to open a pdf file asap.
I downloaded this from cnet and it originally said 17 megabytes but it is now 32. Do I need this pdf tablet?

Thank you.

Maybe you should try Foxit (my #4). I use it all the time and have never run into any initializing problems. It's the one most often mentioned on these boards:-
