Specs: Windows XP
I am having trouble trying to read my e-mails from thunderbird . when i download my e-mails a box --launch application appears asking me to choose an application. do not understand and do not know what is required

Choose your default browser--probably firefox if you're using thunderbird--and see if that opens them.

Did this just start? Was it working at one point? If so, do you know if you made any changes to the system?

cancelled thunderbird and set up outlook express everything running great

Outlook Express is antiquated software, even for Windows XP. It was replaced by Windows Live Mail, which is apart of the Windows Essentials program suite.
