Trouble playing Dragon Age Origin

December 31, 2009 at 11:33:27
Specs: Windows XP
OK Not really sure if this is software related or not, but I am having a problem.

I recently bought Dragon Age Origins from direct2drive. After installing it I am able to double click and play fine but, I can not right click it and sent to desktop shortcut or click its properties. I get an error message saying windows has encountered a problem and needs to close.

After that message it just resets I dont lose anything, my pc doesn't restart or anything like that. Does anyone know why this happens? It happens with a few programs I have downloaded over the last couple of months.

Click Start > Run and enter: regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
It "may" fix the issue, otherwise it could be malware (Virus etc) or you could try updating to XP SP3: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pr...

Was able to get the thing to work using the Shexview thing. But now I cant play. It says AWC.dll "The game can not launch because of misconfiguration. Please reinstall the game and try again."

Anyway to undo the comand thing? It takes way to damn long to redownload the game from direct2drive.

The above command could not have hurt the game, unless the game was "already" corrupt ;)

Yes you need to uninstall/re-install the game :(
