I couldn't find anything on the error, are you sure you copied it correctly?

Is the make/model of the laptop a secret? Which version of Windows is currently installed? Does the laptop have a SATA HDD? If it does, do you know what has to be done?

Maybe you don't have enough hard disk drive space remaining to download the 300MB+ file and install it. The requirements are higher for SP3.

You might as well try installing SP3. SP2 is out of date and unpatched for 3 years.

Download Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers from Official Microsoft Download Center Direct download: http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/3/0/d30e32d8-418a-469d-b600-f32ce3edf42d/WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe

There is a chance that just installing SP3 (see above) will fix your issue.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
