Not all computers that were sold with Vista can be converted to xp.

Start at the HP site.

Then if you can't find any, you need to find out what the actual chip is that you need. Then you go and see if the OEM that made the chip offers a driver. If you go to hardware and look at the device you need there should be a pci string that tells the vendor and chip make and model. Then search that on the web. Might be able to use msinfo or msinfo32 in some cases for more info.

In some rare cases you might even try to use Vista drivers but they may not work.

HP doesn't have the drivers you need. In that case, you will have to identify the individual hardware components (chipset, video, sound, network, wireless, etc), then download drivers from the hardware manufacturer's websites.

Here's your system specs & motherboard specs:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...

The chipset combo is the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE / nForce 430. The Geforce driver is for the video, the nForce driver is for the chipset.

Geforce: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-...

nForce: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce...

The audio is the Realtek ALC888. You will need Service Pack 3 installed & the Realtek HD audio driver: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

The network is the Realtek RTL8201N. Download the driver from response # 8 in this thread:

You could go back to Vista. If its performance is the issue we might be able to make some suggestions to improve it.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

"might just get a new computer, to complicated for me"

What's "to complicated"? I did all the friggin work for you. I dug up the specs & supplied links to all the drivers. All you have to do is download & install them.

So you're saying that instead of spending an hour or so fixing what you have, you'd rather spend $500+ for a new system?

riider did do the work for you I agree. He may have a right to be upset. He could have been a bit more diplomatic maybe. :)

I also agree with Derek. It may be that some small issue would allow you to use Vista. In most systems they sold them with just too little ram. A bunch of companies got sued over that deal. Maybe $25 worth or ram would fix it.
