Theme/Style DLL issue

Specs: Windows XP
Im just gonna be straight with you guys. I was being a biff and tried to install a custom theme. So, I downloaded a DLL patcher for this purpose. After rebooting and trying to add the new theme/style it came up with this: An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32 shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\desk.cpl",Display"
and now I'm stuck on the Windows classic theme.

So, I ran the patcher again to restore the DLL, but wait! It didn't work.

I dont care about the stupid theme any more. But was thinking of having to restore the DLL but have no idea how to do it!

Please Help.

Thanks, Tom :D

Was Shell32.dll the dll it patched?

Have you tried system restore to a date just before you made this change?

What's the time?

I'm wondering if replacing uxtheme.dll will do the trick.
You should find a copy in c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386

If the system will let you, copy this over to c:\windows\system32
Otherwise, typing sfc /scannow in the Run box should (theoretically) replace any incorrect file versions.

You might have to reboot afterwards. Lets hope the program hasn't monkeyed around with registry entries too.

What's the time?
