I have 2 GB of Temp files (the Local Settings/username folder). what are they and can I delete them?
run disk cleanup off the accessories/system tools menu. Everything you can check can be removed from your system safely Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

I tried that but they are still there! These temp files are in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp folder, which is a different file from the Windows\Temp folder. So maybe these don't get deleted when I run Disk Cleanup?
that user name needs to run disk clean up or you as admin can delete them. Nothing in a temp folder should be of importance. Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

I tried runnng it again in both accounts and nothing happened. I then downloaded a file cleaning program - that worked and everything's still working ok. Still don't know why Disk Cleanup didn't work but not to worry, problem solved now.
Thanks for your help.
Many thanks for the info, Larry - downloaded the program and it worked!
