System freezing at user account scr

Hewlett-packard / A6250t

Specs: Windows Vista Ultimate
When I reboot my pc it gets to the user accounts screen and then the mouse and keyboard do not work. If I reboot in safemode they work. If I do a PC recovery they work but everything is back to the beginning. I have Windows Home Server and have tried to load backups from that going back over a month and this does not help. Is my only option to recover back to factory??

Try booting into Enable VGA mode rather than Safe mode by choosing that from the boot choices menu.
Enable VGA mode loads everything normal mode does, except it forces the video to use default VGA drivers rather than the specific drivers for the video loaded in normal mode.
If Windows then does not freeze at the user account screen, and your keyboard and mouse work fine, your problem is related to the specific video drivers loaded when you boot normally.

Safe mode loads default VGA drivers too, but it also does not load a lot of things normally loaded when you boot normally.
Sometimes you cannot un-install drivers or software in Safe mode - you always can in Enable VGA mode, if it works.

If Enable VGA mode does not work but Safe mode does, your problem is caused by some other software or setting or hardware problem, but it's probably not caused by anything related to the specific video drivers that are loaded in normal mode.
