Streaming videos play choppy

Specs: Windows XP
Every time I try to watch a streaming video, like on youtube, the sound is perfect, but the video seems like a fast series of stills rather than live video. Fullscreen is worse, with images freezing for about 1-2 seconds. All of my drives seem to be up to date and I just updated Adobe flash player. Any ideas?

Also when I scroll, it takes the computer about half a second to realize when I'm trying to do. It's like I'm pulling it from something sticky.

scxrling, choppy video = buffering = memory. Sure you have enough? Do you maybe have some memory hog proggies running in the background? Examine your startups to be sure. Find a list of 'must haves' @:
