Strange Printer Spooling Error

Microsoft Windows xp pro w/ sp3 multilin...

Specs: Windows XP
Got a strange situation.
Printer spooling services is not working despite the fact that in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler the ImagePath is of the Reg_Expand_SZ type and its data "%SystemRoot%\system32\spoolsv.exe".
The spoolsv.exe by itself exists in the proper place.
Executed "services.exe". After an attept to Start the services got the message
"Could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start".
What else I can do to fix the problem?
Thanks for any comments.

Hello Chuck2,
Thank you for the references provided.
From that I looked on the RPC status. It is in a "Started/Automatic" mode. Despite on this after an attempt to start Print Spooler Services got the same error "1068".
What I am missing?
Thanks.

Other services required for Print Spooler to function properly:

* Fax (H, M, P, T)
* TCP/IP Printer Server (H, M, P, T)

I checked them prior to post a first reply message.
Both of them in the proper state.
Thanks.

Yeah,
Usual stuff with the Microsoft support.
Went to their support center and got the message
"This diagnostic package is not available for Windows XP
We have detected that you are running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. While Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services supports some diagnostic packages for Windows XP, this is not one of them. However, click below for other information to help you troubleshooting this problem".
After all they recommended to install Windows 7.
No luck at all.
What else - just reinstall Windows XP?
