kk92, dunno just what it is. My guess is that there's a left over call from the old OS that no longer exists. You might see if that particular stop is listed along with suggestions @:

about to go to bed but this is what else I have done. i kept getting a code related to possible memory problem so removed and checked each one. Started it in f5 where all the different computer types were and went thru all 8 of them and it didn't work. we have 2 xp pro disc (copies of the same) and have used both. I really don't know what else to do. Do you get a new hd and possibly face the same issue or do you chance it and find another xp disc to use. I thought it was becasue the original os was xp media but now not sure. THe only settings to change in bios is the memram but its where it needs to be. so I will follow up on the codes another time. If anyone else has any othere suggestions I would appreciate it as I have this laptop here without and os on it. nite

Unless you have some particular need for XP Pro, I would suggest going back to Media. Pro is for business/office use where security is a big concern.

The three most important things in computing:
1. Backups, 2. Backups and 3. Backups.

The media edition is corrupt and I don't have the original. I do have the pro and that is what we use at home as well as our business. so I really don't have a choice if I dont use that Im gonna have to buy something else
