Specs: Windows XP
for some reason, the standby option on the "shut down" menu has disappeared from my laptop. i have windows XP. also, it disappeared from the control panel menus as well...

how do i reinstall it? does it have something to do with the fact that i got a blue screen before?

Right click on a blank space of the desktop, click Properties, click the Screen Saver tab, click the Power button & you'll find what you're looking for

thanks, but it didn't help...
the option of standby has disappeared from that menu as well...in "power option properties", in: "when i close the lid of my portable computer", i have only the option: "do nothing". the option of standby does not exist anymore...

Maybe that Blue Screen indicates file corruption. I would run a SFC from the command line.
