sparrow.sys is corrupted

Specs: Windows XP, sparrow.sys, Repair, boot.ini
Im trying to instal Windows XP from boot cd. The CD starts from boot, but does not get to next window (install, repair etc...) It stops and tells me "sparrow.sys is corrupted, push any button to restart computer)

I was trying to get to Repair menue to delete a bad "boot.ini" then BootCfg /Rebild.

I want to get Windows XP back up and running without loosing any data

Try washing your Windows install disk in warm, soapy water, then dry it thoroughly (with a soft cloth, to avoid scratches). Ever since XP came out, I've been seeing the problem of a seemingly clean disk reading as having corrupted files.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
