this happened to me before on a different computer. the box is checked in the sound options to come on at start up. but for some reason, the only way i can get it back is to uncheck the box, hit apply, then recheck the box and hit apply again. this is frustrating. is there anything i can do?
See if this works. Open 'taskbar and start menu' and under the 'taskbar' tab check 'lock the toolbar' and uncheck 'hide inactive icons'.
Is the sound working properly? You could try reinstalling the sound drivers. Other than that, go to Start > Control Panel > Sound & Audio Devices, check the box for "Place volume icon in the task bar" then click Apply.
the box is already checked. i just explained that
"i just explained that
It wasn't clear what box you meant. So, are you saying it is the "Place volume icon in the task bar" box that you have to keep rechecking?
Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
So when you tried my # 1 what happened? Is it the volume icon that keeps disappearing or an icon associated with some audio software?
Back in the day, I had the same issue when I had windows xp. Read this for the solution as it worked for me. Deals with the "SSDP Discovery Service" and or " uPNP service".
