Re: Sony CRX310S SATA 48X CD-R / RW / DVD Combo Drive

I discovered the following error on a relative's Dell computer after realizing the CD drive icon had disappeared from the My Computer window:

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device"

I discovered the problem after my family got cable Internet service a few days and and after I used anti-virus software on a relative's computer to stop users from getting redirected to sites other than the ones listed. I had uninstalled the CD drive, changed the registry, and restored files moved by the anti-virus programs. What should I do now to solve the problem?

UpperFilters, LowerFilters, UpperFilters.bak, are LowerFilters.bak are not in the part of the registry for the CD/DVD Drive and I still cannot use the drive. The last program I downloaded before discovering the problem was DownloadHelper for Firefox. Here are the keys listed in the registry:

Here are the driver file details:

The CDRW/DVD drive is functioning again after using Avira AntiVir Personal to remove a virus. After the virus was removed, I uninstalled an IDE channel indicated by an exclamation point in Device Manager. After checking for new hardware, both the IDE channel and the CDRW/DVD drive were back in Device Manager without exclamation points.
