Hi Guys,
The last few times I've started up my laptop, the desktop shortcuts don't show up immediately. Usually there is a 45 second to 1 minute period of time where I'm staring at my desktop, no icons displayed, and then they eventually appear.

This has never happened before in the 2 years I've owned the computer. In the past, the icons immediately appear upon the desktop screen.

Any idea as to what is causing this? Should I be worried? Pls Help Me.

You appear to be running Windows XP but you are in the Windows 7 forum **** should probably be moved to Xp forum****

You should look into what programs are starting up with windows, if you suddenly picked up a few more through new programs or new upgrades, look into removing them from automatically starting up. You should also update your Antivirus software (virus, spyware, etc.) and scan for any infection you may have picked up. You should do a disk clean up and a defrag because fragmented files take longer to load and unnecessary junk build up creates problems including bloated temp files, etc. Finally do a windows update.
