Every time i start my laptop i get the message "The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHDOCVW.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your diskette." I have no desktop icons or task-bar. I also cannot right-click on my desktop. I have to use task-manager to open things, but anything that opens with explorer.exe gets the same error message. I have had this issue for awhile now, i would appreciate any help.

I am having the exact same problem. It occurred immediately after an "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close" lockup. After a hard reboot, when trying to start Windows I get the same error message. Even after "restoring" it back one week I still have the same problem. I'm now relegated to using my dinosaur of a desktop computer that has never really recovered from a virus attack last year and is as slow as a dial-up computer. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!
