Setting the physical order of audio files on an SD card

December 31, 2011 at 09:47:26
Specs: Windows XP
I'm using an audio module that reads from an SD card. It plays the 'first' file first, then in sequence.
So I need to physically put the files in the order that I want them played (not by date, size, alphabetical etc).
So how do I load them onto an SD card in the order that I want?
Cheers, Mike.

Numbering them would be the obvious solution, When extracting files for any source there is some kind of order that determines which comes first. Putting the files on the SD card in the order that you want them and the retrieving them in the same order is so difficult and fraught with problems that it is more work than it is worth.

Thanks for your answers chaps. I've found a sort of solution.
I've tried numbering them but this doesn't work.
What seems to work is if I put the files on one by one, instead of selecting the
whole lot.
The module them plays them in the order that I put them on - I suppose it
would wouldn't it ? !
It ignors file size, date, filename (number etc), but just plays them in the order
that I put them on.
Next question is - is there a way of instructing Explorer what order files should
be copied over? I've tried selecting a few in a specific order, but this doesn't work.
I suppose I could write a small VB program to do this....
Cheers, and Happy New Year, Mike.
