One thing you need to learn about on-line forums is that you don't hi-jack someone else's thread, for any reason. You start a thread of your own.

Just in case you don't already know, that update was on September 14, 2010 to fix a vulnerability in MPEG4 Codec. Maybe this will give you a general clue where to look. Any problems playing videos?

I've done the exact same thing as "mrrsjr " and have the exact problem. Tons of searching for help, trying everything, nothing working. Any further help will be greatly appreciated.

Might be worth temporarily disabling AV, Anti-Malware, Firewall to see if this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I used "MSCONFIG" and disabled all except the required Microsoft systems and it still has the same issue.

If you go to regedit delete all references to KB975558 (there will probably be more than one) and then try to install the update.....it should work

Deleting all registry entries and restarting the update worked perfectly for me. Thanks Trying!

Thanks! The registry tip works like a charm, but you have to make sure you get them all!
