scrolling problem

Compaq / Presario 2500

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 3GHz/960Mb RAM
Hello If Someone could help it would be very much appreciated.

I had some problem with windows so reloaded windows xp. Everything works well now but when I scroll up or down the screen shudders rather than scrolls smoothly. It's a bit hard to explain but it's like each page is reloaded so as I scroll it flashes the next part of the page until I stop scrolling.

Thanks,

Sarah

I'd suspect you haven't installed the correct/latest graphics driver, you're just using the 'standard vga' which will produce that effect.

Ok, sounds simple... how can I install the latest graphics driver?

Thanks for your reply :)

Go to the HP website, put in the model number and you'll find all of the drivers for your laptop. Install the chipset driver before any others. (To install, just download the file(s) to your desktop & double click to start the process)

For your laptop, the presario 2500 covers quite a large range, you may need the specific model number - that will be on a label on the base of the unit.

Thanks John, I downloaded the drivers and scrolling works perfectly. Thanks for your suggestion.

I have my laptop connected to my TV and had been able to play videos on the TV using windows media player, but now it plays on the laptop while connected to the TV but does not display on the TV. Has sound, windows media player frame is on the TV but the actual video picture is not there. Any idea how I can rectify this problem???

THanks again.

Try using something other than Windows Media Player - vlc media player would be my suggestion.
