Running Aion Online w/DirectX Issue.

September 8, 2010 at 11:07:49
Specs: Windows XP
I am currently trying to run Aion Online, on my 4 year old computer. I have never replaced parts in it at all. It has a GeForce 7300 GS Video Card and M2N-R SLI Motherboard.

When I run the updates on Aion online, it tries to Launch(Normal Updates are done) - It says my DirectX Version is out of date and I need to update it to make Aion Run properly.

My DirectX Version is as follows: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

By my knowledge, that is the highest form of DirectX that Windows XP Supports, as I can not put DirectX 10 on here since its not supported.

However when I run Aion Online and do the DirectX Update, it downloads then extracts all the files, then tries to install them. After about 30 seconds I get an Error Screen that DirectX has occurred a problem and needs to shut down.

There is no way past it that I have seen to get into Aion without requiring the non-needed DirectX Update.

After the error screen and I press OK to close the box, Aion just goes back to the NCsoft Screen again to restart the annoying process all over again.

Why won't it work and why can't I get into Aion without Updating my Drivers that obviously do not need updated.

I've done dxdiag on the run screen and all tests come out as no problems. So I do not know the actual problem of why this is happening.

Thanks in Advance.

-Kyle

Would you not be better off posting in the AION Forum ??

I can not make a thread there until I have a character made, I can not even get into Aion let alone ask this question. I am asking technical support from Aion however. I posted in three different areas, to get possible faster responses.

I know this is a problem outside Aion, too.

This is what my DX Diagnostic said.

DxDiag Notes
------------
DirectX Files Tab: The file directx.cpl is an old version, which could cause problems. Several files (d3dx8d.dll, d3dx9d.dll, d3d9d.dll) are debug versions, which will run slower than the retail version. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.
Display Tab 1: No problems found. DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful. Direct3D 7 test results: All tests were successful. Direct3D 8 test results: All tests were successful. Direct3D 9 test results: All tests were successful.
Sound Tab 1: DirectSound test results: All tests were successful.
Sound Tab 2: DirectSound test results: All tests were successful.
Sound Tab 3: DirectSound test results: All tests were successful.
Music Tab: DirectMusic test results: All tests were successful.
Input Tab: No problems found.
Network Tab: No problems found. DirectPlay test results: All tests were successful.

In regard to the comment of needing to reinstall DirectX to get the latest version, every time I've tried to update or reinstall it, all I have got is an error message killing the install of DirectX because an Error has occurred and needs to shut down.
