replaced laptop screen15.4 with 14.1 not work

Specs: Windows XP

So, i have been having trouble with my laptop screen flickering for a while and it finally packed up yesterday. i have an old laptop with a 14.1" screen which i have tried to replace the broken screen with. Since the original was 15.4" the screen seems to show a 15.4" picture and this means that the bottom and right side is cut off of the image. I have searched for a couple of hours to find a similar problem but have come up with nothing. I have looked into changing the screens resolution though I know it does not relate to my problem. would changing the DPI be useful? I have not tried since when attempting i am prompted to insert the xp disk but i will dig out the disk if it might help. is there any way i can re size the actual screen image?

thanks in advance for any help received :)

Without some inside information, I'd say no one could tell what you have and if it would work.

The lamp or ballast was the original problem so I don't know why you changed the screen.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Set the resolution to match the screen size.

Changing DPI is not the way forward - all that does is change how big things look on the screen.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
