Hi. I'm trying to restore/fix my MBR from within windows on a drive I have on a docking station. I just want to repair the MBR and in the old days of DOS etc it was so easy. Why does it seem so impossible now?!
I don't want to do it via a recovery console, I just want to repair it from within windows XP home SP3 to a drive I have just imaged. The original drive I had was failing and wasn't booting properly anymore so I imaged it and wrote it back to an identical fully working drive. When I plugged in the drive it just simply said "MISSING BOOT SECTOR" or something along those lines.
I'm assuming the cloning software I used (DRIVEIMAGE XML) doesn't write the boot information properly with the image.
Cheers for any advice.
Dave.
Sorry people, I forgot to set drive as "active" in disk manager. it's all working now. duh!
Thanks anyway.
Dave.
