rename a text file and increment the counter

Specs: Windows XP
i have a txt file , just need to rename it to
bosndwch999.dat where the 999 represents a counter which is incremented by one each day e.g. 001, 002, 003 etc

Is that day forever counting or day of year up to 365 and start over?

Its just a counter not over days , suppose today the file is exported as bosndwch001 today , tomorow it shld be as bosndwch002 and the counter keep on moving
every export
