Solved remote desktop connection users and locations

Specs: Windows 7
How do I allow a user from another computer remote access to a computer? they are on the same workgroup. they are both admin accounts. i have windows 7 pro, and the other computer that I am trying to connect to has xp pro. When I check locations, it only has my computer listed. We are on the same network.

It doesn't exactly work that way..

The best way to get RD working the way you want it when you want to connect to a computer is to primarily use the IP address or the computer name. However, if you a DNS situation, using the computer name might not work, so for now, I would rely on the IP address. You need the IP address of the computer you want to connect to, and to find that, just go to Start>Run and type in cmd, from there type in (without quotes) "ipconfig /all". With what it displays, scroll back up where you see IPv4 and look to the right, that is your IP address.

Take that address and put it into RD and all you need from there is the password (if there is one) to get in and you're good.
