what would be the best way to access my user acct from another computer without having to lock the computer so that it would still be accessible by another user

Might try this in vnc. You basically push vnc. I think it won't change the user. I haven't used it in a while.

Your describe criteria of without locking the computer I interpret to mean not interfer with the current users session.

Might want to look into Remote Desktop Protocol [RDP] which is built in to MS.

yes thats right to use remote desktop I would have to lock the system so nobody could interfere with the session this wont work for me because the kids want to use the computer as well. any suggestions I'm considering a server of some type but it all seems to technical for a home network
