Reinstalling XP to a netbook/no cd/dvd rom?

Specs: Windows XP, 1024 Ram
Hello everyone. I have a problem with my mothers netbook. Recently my mother attained many trojans and a virus on her netbook so ive decided to wipe out the hard drive. The step I took was to download the dariks nuke and boot. If your not familiar with it, its a free software download that wipes out your hard drive. I used this program since there was no software or cd the computer came with to partition or reformat. After deleting everything I went to reinstall windows XP. The problem is right here. There is no cd rom/dvd rom drive on the computer, instead I have an external dvd rom drive. Before I erased everything on the computer the external rom drive was recognized in the BIOS screen, however since I erased everything it is no longer noticed. There is no way to set the boot order to the rom drive. So my question is, Is there anyway to reinstall windows now these problems, or am I at a stalemate and need to return it to the manufacture?

Your netbook has a SATA hard drive. XP was released before SATA was available therefore it doesn't support it "out of the box". To get the SATA drive recognized by Windows setup, the SATA drivers need to be loaded 1st. There are a couple of different ways of doing this but being that you have a netbook, you will have to create a new XP CD which contains the SATA drivers, that way the drivers will be loaded automatically.
