Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 3 GHz / 1982 MB
Thing is, I had set a password for a partition on
my hard disk but have now forgotten it. Is there
any way I can recover the data in the partition or
unlock the partition?

The program that I had used is Disk Password Protection

If this is the product you are using...

http://www.exlade.com/disk-password...

...their FAQ page (above) says you either must have the password or your data cannot be recovered.

mmm long shot: posssibly the olde reliable nordhal utility "may" help; although it's more in line with/for NT etc installations (the OS itself) than other aspects?

Likewise a google/yahoo trawl using:

password recovery

as the string (search term) will produce all manner of possibilities.

And have you tried contacting the programme writer(s) etc. to see if they can help?

Equally "and a very long shot..." possibly booting via a knoppix or ubuntu disk (linux variants on a cd/dvd) may allow access?
