random system shut downs

Specs: Windows XP
well the posts i read were really old but the problem is the same. random shut downs of my computer. right out of the blue for seemingly no reason. there is no restart i have to push the button to start it back up. works fine for awhile and boom shuts down again.overheating maybe??

Overheating or weak/failing power supply. Check your CPU temperature in the BIOS.

Most likely heat caused by a build-up of dust on your fans and heatsinks.

With a little luck, there won't be any permanent damage to the CPU (fingers crossed).
