Quick Launch Resets Every Time I Reboot

Specs: Windows XP
Ever since I installed Windows XP Service Pack 3, I've had troubles with my task bar. First of all I noticed it doesn't allow you to have a URL bar on the task bar. I found out later this function was removed with Service Pack 3.

I also found out my quick launch would be removed every time I restart my computer. I searched the net for a while and can't remember what I did, but that problem's fixed now.

Now my problem is that every time I reboot, the quick launch order of icons resets. I can move them around as much as I like, but whenever I reboot, it doesn't save my settings.

I've searched high and wide but haven't seemed to be able to find a fix that works. Can anyone -- anyone at all -- help???

capo100, maybe? Arrange things the way you want, THEN (only has to be done once) exit using the option under 'file' (upper left) rather than the handier 'X'. That forces Windows to 'remember' settings and use them subsequently.

Ed in Texas - the quick launch icons are part of the desktop. The desktop is not a window so there is no 'File' menu on it.

However you close a window will have no effect on the quick launch icons.
