i've been reading a tutorial on the Windows registry . I've been having a problem with having registry entries merge , I downloaded a registry fix called knox-doug and that key did indeed merge with the registry . So back to the reason for my [post I an reading this tutorial and it say there are six catagoreys to the registry and then they list them , Iam missing the HKEY_DYN_DATA catagorey ,even when expand HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
the HKEY_DYN_DATA is not anywhere in my registry . Is this normal for WinXP Pro MCE2005 registry ? Your help would be greatly appreciated .
Thank You ,Nick

I want to apoligize to those who read this post and already knew what I found with a simple google search >Some earlier versions of Windows contained an additional root key: HKEY-DYN-DATA (HKDD) – this key contained information that needed continuous updating.< Apprently the WindowsXP Registry does not contain this root key ! Thank you anyway for those who opened this topic to read and help .
Take Care Nick

My advice to you is: don't mess with the registry!

I'll second that. Best left alone as a simple mistake could render the machine unusable requiring a complete reinstall.
