Does it have anything to do with NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. It is possible that you have a computer that hasn't been updated/turned on for awhile and actually has the old Blaster worm or something similar.

If that is the case, download Service Pack 3 network installation from Microsoft and burn it on a cd.

Boot up the infected computer and press F8 as it starts (right after BIOS screen or computer logo) and install SP3 in safe mode. If it is one of the older worms that caused that issue the service pack should eliminate your problem.

I just noticed also that you said "brain" which could mean that you've pulled a hard drive from an old gateway and you're attempting to just boot windows with that hard drive in another computer. That will not work because of driver issues and it will give you a blue screen. If you want to keep all of the data on the drive you could install Windows XP using the repair option.

If the repair option you select takes you to a black screen with a command prompt you've went the wrong way. Boot with the OS install disc again and skip the first repair option and use the second one you see.

I hope I spelled it all out for you as simple as possible.
