If you haven't done so already, install the Photoshop 7 update which updates it to Photoshop 7.0.1. Get it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downlo...

Please note that the update is free but it won't install unless your copy of Photoshop 7 is genuine and legal.

I might also add that you should have Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed to ensure that your Windows XP is up to date. If you don't have SP3 installed you can get it via Windows Update.

To install SP3 you must have SP2 already installed.

Just a minor point. You don't need any previous service pack to install XP SP3 - it contains them all.

EDIT:
See further posts below - seems you must have at least SP1a first.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

That's an interesting point Derek because our local techie says that in order to install SP3 you must have SP1 installed because SP3 also has SP2.

What I said was "my understanding" but it looks like I was misled by various websites over the years (some still out there), and inputs on this forum.

It seems from the following website (chosen carefully) that you do need at least SP1a:

Thanks for pointing this out Ewen and apologies to Phil22. I've amended my previous post.
