Problem in IIS 5.1. Not working

March 2, 2011 at 01:21:48
Specs: Windows XP
Hello All,
When I open the my IIS ( in windows XP) and under the (Default Web sites)-> IISHelp->default.htm
right clicking and selecting the BROWSE option, it opens in the browser. But always shows the Error: "The website cannot display the page Http 500".
And when I click the more information, I get like
"This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying."

It happens for all the default and my own websites.
Is my IIS configuration wrong? Please help, I already spent 3days to solve this without success. I refered lot of websites and followed all. Nothing helped me.

I need this for my Silverlight4.0+WCF+Entity Framework Application.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Johnw!

I had solved the problem by re-installing the IIS 5.1 and followed the steps
1. run the aspnet_regiis.exe -I -enable command which will install the ASP.NET4.0 in IIS and also the mime type for the .svc files ( this file is at location c:\windows\\v4.0.30319)

2.create new wcf service project and host it in iis.

3.Finally browse the *.svc file under the iis.

Now it is working fine for me...
