Problem booting Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo PC

Fijitsu / Esprimo 1gb ram

Specs: Windows XP, 1 Gb
I bought this used Esprimo (P4 and Windows XP) nearly 3 months ago.At first it would not boot at the first powering (it froze at the initial Fujitsu increasing blue band screen). Then I found that it would boot if I powered it off and then repowered it immediately. After some days I thought to use the F2 key at the beginning of the booting Fujitsu screen and I set the booting sequence to the default value whereupon it started to boot at the first attempt and booting was OK for two months. It then reverted to requiring two booting attempts as before. Today even this stopped working and it won't boot at all. The F2 key doesn't work (Bios screen doesn't show) and it stops at the initial Windows XP screen if not at the initial Fijitsu screen. Sometimes on further booting attempts it repeats the process of getting to the XP screen but no further. It may have been destabilised because today I forgot to have the keyboard connected wirelessly as I normally do. Please advise how I can solve the booting problem.

ofarouki, since it seems to be happy for a while then begin to act up, sounds to me like no usable memory.
There's a file called 'index.dat'. I suspect it is too big and needs deleting.
A common ailment is a file called 'index.dat'. It gets read every time and can take quite a while if it’s too bloated. It's like a log file and keeps a record of every site you visit on the web. Empty, it's 32K, but it can grow HUGE. It's a protected file and can't be deleted by normal methods. CCleaner (free @: can get rid of it when it’s ticked (not to worry, it gets rebuilt EMPTY on the next boot.). May not be your deal at all, but won’t cause any harm to try. I run it often.
If you can't get it to boot to make the download ...
