There are PRN files viewers but they rely on the PRN file being generated with PostScript code, a general code for printers. Very few printers, especially inkjet, actually use PostScript. It is more for Laser text printers.

A PRN file contains, among other things, printer codes for the printer it was meant to be printed on. Any application to display a PRN file would have to be able to decode the printer codes for every printer ever made. Clearly an impossible task.

Realy a PRN file is good for one thing only and that is sending to a printer for printing.

As mentioned by StuartS, a PRN file is the data that would be ordinarily be sent yo the printer. In the old (DOS) days it was mostly ASCII text. If it was generated for a GDI printer under Windows a bitmap to be sent to printer. There is software to display most PRN's for PS, PCL, HPGL driver generated files.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
