Hewlett-packard Deskjet f4180 all-in-one...
March 31, 2010 at 08:02:27
Specs: Windows XP
I had installed HP Deskjet F4180 and it disappeared. I did the following:
1. Run regedit.exe.
2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler
3. Make sure that ImagePath is of the Reg_Expand_SZ type.
4. Replace its data with %SystemRoot%\system32\spoolsv.exe
THIS WAS OK (IT SAID THIS)

5. Run services.exe.
NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I DID THIS.

6. Double-click the Spooler service.
7. Verify that the executable is now c:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe
THIS DIDN'T APPEAR (THE PREVIOUS ONE WAS STILL THERE) SO I CHANGED IT MANUALLY (WROTE IT),

8. Start the service.
BUT WHEN TRYING TO CONTINUE REINSTALLING THE PRINTER I HAD THE SAME INITIAL PROBLEM

What can I do? Please help me!!!!!!

I wonder why HP would have you mess with the registry to install the printer. ??

5. Run services.exe.
NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I DID THIS.

Nothing happens because services.exe is likely already running as shown in Task Manager.
I think you wanted to RUN services.msc ???

You may give a little more thought about what you are doing.
