Is there a way to create a user file on our systems that can prevent employees from altering, changing or copying a folder. Can the whole folder be hidden or protected?

You use the built in permissions of Windows XP Professional.

You can set a folder to be accessible only to named users or members of a particular user group like the administrators group.

You can also use permission so the only designated users or user groups can alter a file and everyone else is read only. You get a lot more flexibility with with in windows XP Prof as you can create your own user groups. XP Home only has three built in user groups.

Look up permissions in the help files. Needs a bit of planning and thought.

There are also a number of utilities to do the work for you, for example..

Programs for "Internet cafes" -and similar- have options to restrict access, 2. :)

Like some1 else said in THEIR signature.. "i would appreciate if everybody that has received help from me to say if my suggestions works", tnx.

In a business environment I would suggest staying with the group or individual permissions routine.

If I go with a group policy, I need to assign a seperate log on for an admin. I have over 400 computers that I would need to assign a log on to. I also need to "write" to the folder that will be protected. Don't think that I'll be able to do that.
