port 162 issue

Specs: Windows XP
hi, on port 162 there is a process called java.exe running. i tried to kill it with the command prodess -k 1289. here 1298 is the process ID. but it keeps coming back again. i need port 162 for sending traps. i first removed java completely from my pc, but still there was this java.exe. in fact there are two java.exe running if i check in task manager. need help. i also ran antivirus as well as antimalware softwares, but no difference.

if you removed java, java.exe should definitely not be running unless it's malware disguised to look like a java process. You have to post on the malware forum:

1: Download TCPView & confirm that the port is being opened by java.exe

2: Next use Process Explorer to look inside java.exe.
Change the Lower View to show DLLs ( View, tick > Show Lower Pane, then below > Lower Pane View, tick dll's )
Look for something really unusual, funny name or numbers.

3: Click on the Internet Explorer & Winlogon tabs of Autoruns & delete any unknown or weird entries. If you are not sure, google the EXACT name, if google dos'nt find it, usually means it is an infection.
