Playing MP3 hangs the PC

August 17, 2009 at 22:27:35
Specs: Windows XP SP3
I have Toshiba Satellite A100 with Windows XP SP3. When I try to play MP3 files, the CPU utilization shoots up and the PC hangs. MP3 playback was working perfectly fine a few days back. Other software such as Skype or webex work fine. I can also play video files without any problem.

Please help...

What are you trying to play mp3's with?

WMP? Winamp? XMPlay? etc...

Perhaps changing to another player will solve things...

Doesn't matter which player I tried with. The result is same.
I tried with Windows Media Player, VLC, MediaMonkey, JRiver Media Jukebox,Foobar2000.
I also reinstalled audio drivers and video drivers.
Still the same result.

Found out the problem. Toshiba Virtual Sound was causing this. When I terminated the process, all started working fine.
