Picking up phone restart comp

My computer is connected to a UPS. When I shut down the computer for the night if by accident I forget to turn off the UPS, the computer restarts itself by simply picking up the phone. I have looked in my phone/modem folder in the control panel but did not find anything that I could change to fix that. Maybe someone would have a suggestion. The modem is a softV92 , if this helps, Thanks

Look in the Bios for a wake on phone or ring.

Are you actually powering off the computer? It can't "restart" from a powered off state, but it can "start." Why are you shutting it down every night?

It does "restart" from a powered off state unless I turn the UPS off at the switch. I only use my computer in the evenings, so I don't think It should be running all night and all day. I've read the debate about leaving it on or turning it off, LOL. Everyone is still divided on that issue. Will take a look in the bios, Thanks

I have no problems if left on "standby".
