perfnet error when using win mce

Specs: Windows XP, AthlonXp1800 768ddr

Ive just built my new media center pc, with windows xp mce edition installed. Everything works fine, but when i go to play video files, win mce exists itself. This only happened when i copied over some video files from an external hard drive to the pc's internal hard drive. Prior to this, the application would never exit itself. The error im getting each time this happens is a perfnet error as follows.

"Unable to open the Server service. Server performance data will not be returned. Error code returned is in data DWORD 0"

Event Type: Error
Event Source: PerfNet
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2004

I have made sure that the server service is starting by looking up services.msc, as well as manually starting it through dos.

anyonehave any suggestions?

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers and the other intgrated hardware drivers?

What about service packs for WinXP MCE?
