Specs: Windows xp, mPGA478 /512MB
I can't get a display on monitor. I've troubleshot all suggested remedies to no avail. I need to find an inexpensive pci video card to see if that's my problem before I go any further.

I received the machine not working. No beeps during startup. Keyboard lights don't flash, fans are spinning. Okay, guys. Sorry about that, I changed hard drive, then changed ram again and made sure it was seated correctly, and presto access. Thanks for all the assistance. It was greatly appreciated. Now my headache is subsiding (Sis). Thanks again.

If the MoBo has onboard video, have you disabled it? If so then here's a couple of cheap (standard PCI) video cards:

I'm unable to disable it, because I can't see it. I have no display. I just want a cheap compatible video card for a hp pavilion 533w system, so I can determine if the video card is in fact my problem. I'm trying to help my sis out, but as usual I'm getting a headache too.

If it has onboard video, unplug the card, insert the monitor cable into the onboard jack and power on. If there is no output (beyond the BIOS screen), then it's quite possible that it's already been disabled.

Why would you buy a video card just to see if it's the problem? What if it's not? How about explaining the problem? when did it start & how? what happens when you try to boot? any beeps, fans spinning, LEDs?
