pc turns itself off completely when booting up

Specs: Windows xp, 1 GB
When turned on, pc will turn off after a couple of seconds by itself. Even when in BIOS, it still turns off after some seconds. System has an ISO-P400LPP power supply, MSI MS - 7222 MoBo, seagate barracuda 80 GB HDD, Apacer 512 MB RAM and an intel celeron D cpu

Has this system ever worked properly? It could be your CPU is overheating & causing the quick shutdown or it could be a problem with the power supply which is a low end cheapie.

In view of the speed this shutdown happens it would have to be something severe to be an overheating issue (such as CPU heat sink detached). Maybe PSU, already mentioned, is more likely.
