Specs: Windows XP
hi,i seem to be getting every sign of problems i.e. short crashes(from which i can recover);prog. not responding;very slow start-up + loads of others (i lost sound the other day for a while + was informed that no drivers were installed)but they were. Did have prob with "babylon" got it removed by virgin engineer(cost me £47) but just found it after using "system restore". On change/remove could not remove anything and things i had never seen before were appearing as i watched (something "redistributable platform"with date 2005 and changed to 2008 before my very eyes. Security informs me everything is up to date + p.c. is protected and then tells me "at risk as have not run scan for over a monthwhen scan had just finished, feel like smashing it up,help, please, david

As you seem to have multiple problems, the best course of action is to backup all your data then do a factory recovery to start afresh with a new Windows installation.

Some viruses hide in the system restore files. Every good "engineer" knows that. Since you had to pay someone to remove an infection, does that mean you are you incapable of completely wiping the hard drive & reinstalling Windows again from scratch? Will you have to pay someone to do that as well?
